Biography

Former legendary football player of Crvena zvezda.

Jovan "Kule" Aćimović, the legendary football player of Crvena zvezda and the national team of Yugoslavia, was born on June 21, 1948 in Belgrade. He spent 11 years as a player in the ranks of the red and white team, from 1965 to 1976. In 11 seasons in the Crvena zvezda jersey, he played a total of 519 games and scored 113 goals. He won four championship titles (1968, 1969, 1970 and 1973), three Cups (1968, 1970 and 1971), the Central European (Mitropa) Cup in 1968, two Yugoslavian Superchampion trophies in 1969 and 1972 and one First League Cup in 1973. He is fourth on the all-time list of Crvena zvezda in the number of appearances in the championship (237) and in the number of competitive matches (318).

He left a deep mark on the national team. He scored a goal in the qualifiers for the World Cup in West Germany in 1974 against Greece (1:0), and in the master's match against Spain (1:0) in Frankfurt he was the best on the field. He played all six games at the World Cup. In some polls, he was selected in the ideal team of all European championships. After the end of his playing career, he was a member of the coaching staff of Crvena zvezda and worked with the youth selections of the most trophy-winning Serbian club.
