Crvena zvezda today represents a kind of myth, as the most numerous, most popular and most trophy-winning sports team in this region.
After all, from the very beginning, Zvezda was followed by the cult of a great sports family, which, with its recognizable charisma and successful results, spread day by day, gaining popularity and increasing the army of supporters and fans. It went beyond sports, becoming one of the three symbols of Serbian identity long ago, along with the Orthodox Church and the daily newspaper Politika.
How was Crvena zvezda born? The idea of founding started on the initiative of the USAOS Belgrade City Board. During February 1945, young people, members of the United Union of Anti-Fascist Youth of Serbia, began preparations for the founding assembly of a youth gymnastics club, with the aim of it being composed of various sports sections.
Observing the time of six decades, the Crvena zvezda sports club has gone through five basic periods in its development.
UNTIL 1948
The first, from the foundation to 1948, the period of formation of sections as organizational forms of the Sports society. It is also characterized by its merger with the Student Gymnastics Club "Student" on October 12, 1946, which made Crvena zvezda the Youth-Student Gymnastics Club. That time is remembered for the mass gathering of working, school and student youth.

1948-1963.
The second period, from 1948 to 1963, the period of the formation of clubs and their independence, but less and less connection within the Sports society, in which there were sporadic and individual tendencies of secession of individual clubs and the closure of the Sports society. That period is also characterized by the unresolved problem of financing sports.

1963-1967.
The third period, from 1963 to 1967, is remembered as a period of reaffirmation of the Sports society, in which the concepts of strengthening the sports community prevailed. In that period, the tendency to overcome financial difficulties with systemic solutions is also significant.
1967-1992.
The fourth period, from 1967 to 1992, the period of further affirmation of Zvezda's sports family. The relations between the clubs and the Sports society were specified, professionalism was introduced and the orientation of striving towards top sports achievements was confirmed.
since 1992
The last, fifth period, from 1992 until today, will be remembered for the difficult conditions for the functioning of clubs and the Sports society due to economic and political instability in the country. At the same time, he will be remembered for his firm intention to follow European and world trends as much as possible and not give up on the goal, so that Crvena zvezda remains synonymous with success, a model for other clubs, which it has completely succeeded in this region.
Observing Zvezda's life span, from humble beginnings to slowly growing into a sports giant, during which she went through various periods of difficulties and successes, defeats and victories, we can proudly say that the name of Crvena zvezda is still spoken with respect and appreciation throughout the world.
