State Champions 1970.

One of the best generations in the history of Red Star, led by the legendary footballer of the 20th century Dragan Džajić, won the third consecutive and 11th Yugoslav championship title in 1970. At the end of the championship, Red Star had two points more than Partizan, and three each than Velež and Željezničar. The most matches played for the red and whites were played by goalkeeper Ratomir Dujković (33), while the team's top scorer was Dragan Džajić with 13 goals, one more than the center forward Vojin Lazarević. Of course, Džajić also stood out with the by far highest number of assists, because at that time as a left winger he was unsurpassed and almost unstoppable.

The level and quality of the championship in the 1969/70 season is perhaps best seen in the fact that the red and whites won the championship crown, despite recording eight defeats, both of which were won by Željezničar (1:4, 1:3). As in previous years, this Red Star team was more successful than Partizan (1:1, 3:1). From Red Star's laboratory of advanced work, a world-class player Dragan Đajić was launched, while all the others, starting with Jovan Kule Aćimović, were significant national team players. The stands were packed with excited fans, and the Marakana was often attended by close to 100 thousand spectators.

Coach: Miljan Miljanic.

- Great, I dare to say and I have the right to say, great worldly people laid the foundations of professional and organizational work in Red Star. I was lucky to grow up next to them. I saved the minutes of professional meetings, which could always be relevant. When the time came for me to get a chance, I was not afraid. My job was to sublimate the experiences of my teachers and, working with the youth and pioneers, form a group for the criteria of Red Star. It worked. I had great collaborators. We raised two trophy-winning generations of players, who successfully defended the reputation and honor of Red Star. Džajić's generation was born for "total football" - said Miljan Miljanić, the most trophy-winning coach in the history of Red Star with four championships and three Yugoslav Cups.

This champion team reached the semi-finals of the European Champions Cup in 1971. In Belgrade, Panathinaikos was outclassed (4:1), but then one of the biggest sensations in European football happened in the second leg. The Greek team won 3:0 in Athens. Instead of the desired final at Wembley, which was supposed to be Ajax versus Red Star Belgrade and a super duel between Johan Cruyff and Dragan Đajić, the Dutch team easily coped with an unexpected rival from Greece in London.
