Red Star Belgrade players won their 25th Serbian Cup trophy in the 2020/2021 season. The Red and Whites defeated their eternal rival in the final match in an extremely tense match, from which they emerged as winners after a better penalty shootout (4:3) and crowned the season in a great way by winning the 11th double crown in the club's history.

The Red and Whites started the Serbian Cup competition against Zlatibor. The match was played on November 16, and Dejan Stanković's team, after a turnaround, achieved victory (4:2) and a place in the round of 16. An extremely exciting match marked the beginning of the Serbian Cup competition, and goals were scored in that match by Mirko Ivanić, Aleksa Vukanović, Radovan Pankov and Andrija Radulović.

The rival in the round of 16 of the Serbian Cup was Rad, and after the autumn part of the championship was completed, the red and whites managed to put an end to a phenomenal half-season with a victory over Rad (2:1) and secure a place in the quarterfinals of this competition, and this was ensured by Srđan Spiridonović and Nikola Krstović, who scored in this match.

March was reserved for the quarter-final duel, and the opponent was a team competing in the Serbian First League. The red and whites decided the winner in the first half and routinely defeated the IMT team 3:0. The last challenge to the final was the Radnik team. Dejan Stanković's team managed to achieve triumph in a "tough" match and defeated the opponent with goals from Nemanja Milunović and Diego Falćinelli.

The final against the eternal rival was the 38th in a row in the national cup, the regular part of the match ended goalless, and since the net was not shaken even after two overtimes, Crvena Zvezda won the Serbian Cup after a better penalty shootout performance and put an end to a phenomenal season.
