Crvena Zvezda won the 2006 Serbia-Montenegro Cup, after defeating OFK Beograd 4-2 in the final after extra time. The match was played at Partizan Stadium in heavy rain, in front of 12,000 spectators, and the hero of the final was Nikola Žigić, who scored twice. He first scored a crucial free kick midway through the second half (67th minute), and later finished off the dangerous rival, who was on the verge of a great feat, with a goal in extra time (100th minute). The remaining two goals were scored by Milan Purović (73rd minute) and Dušan Basta in the 116th minute.
