In the 1968 cup final, Crvena Zvezda recorded the most convincing victory in the final, outclassing Bor 7:0 (1:0). In front of 10,000 spectators at Marakana, Stevan Ostojić scored three goals, and Dragan Džajić and Vojin Lazarević scored twice each.
In the autumn part of the season Crvena Zvezda eliminated Spartak, and in the spring Zagreb, Borovo and Maribor. Ostojić and Lazarević scored a total of five goals each in five games, and Džajić four in four matches.
