A year before winning his second national championship title, Crvena Zvezda achieved a hat-trick in the cup, triumphing for the third time in a row. In the final, Dinamo Zagreb was defeated, but only at the second attempt. In the first match at the JNA stadium, there was no winner – 1:1 (Ognjanov scored for Zvezda), but a week later, on December 31, 1950, our team was convincing: Crvena Zvezda -Dinamo 3:0 (scorers Vukosavljevic in the 60th minute, Ognjanov in the 77th minute and Tomašević in the 82nd minute).
Crvena Zvezda previously eliminated Željezničar (Ljubljana), Metalac from Zagreb, Odred from Ljubljana, Tekstilac and Partizan.
