Also, he wore the jersey of Sevilla, Fiorentina, Anderlecht, Trabzonspor, as well as the Greek Olympiacos, and in all championships he represented a player with the epithet of football master. He completed his exceptional career with two Europa League trophies, which he won in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons as a player for Chelsea and Sevilla. He was also successful when it comes to national football, since as a member of the German national team he triumphed at the European Championship for players under the age of 21.
At the end of August 2018, he became part of Crvena zvezda, with which he won two national championship titles and wrote new pages of history. He played in the Champions League twice with Zvezda, and with two assists he was the leader of the historic victory against Liverpool at Maracana. In the first season of 2018/19, he was declared the best player of the Superliga of Serbia, while in the following competition year, he wore the number ten on his back and, as captain, led Crvena zvezda to the best club competition in Europe. He played 58 games for his beloved club, scoring 11 goals with 24 assists.
On the field, he symbolized a true leader and a player with phenomenal technical performance, and the fans often started chanting from the stands. In January 2020, he moved to the Al Ahli team from Saudi Arabia, and he also played for Al Raid in the aforementioned league. He finished his professional football career with the Hungarian Ferencvaros. After 15 years of playing top sports, he became the technical director of Crvena zvezda.
