Crvena zvezda won their second title during the season 1952/1953, in FPR Yugoslavia. Star's team was in best shape in the period May-June 1953, when during an extraordinary season ending they won the first place. Crvena zvezda became the champion with the following final balance: 22 matches, 13 wins - 5 draws - 4 losses, with a total of 31 points, goal difference 47:27. Most championship games were played by Miljan Zeković (22) and most goals scored by Todor Živanović (17).
During that season, the team had a positive score balance with the “eternal rivals" Partizan (1:1, 4:2), and the only match with a negative outcome was the one against Hajduk from Split (1:4, 2.2). Todor Živanović was the best scorer of the championship, with 17 goals scored. During the prepping period, a combined team mainly played because Stanković, Ognjanov, Mitić and Diskić were playing on the National team of Yugoslavia at the Olympic Games in Helsinki, while Đajić could not play due to injury. The season began with three games in Belgium, France and Germany ( a tour since the end of 1952). Crvena zvezda’s combined team beat a Racing and Stade de France (5:0), Munich 1860 (2-0), while the only defeat they suffered was by Rouen (0:1).
Just before the season began, we crushingly defeated the Austrian champions Rapid from Vienna (4:0), and we had a good start in the championship as well. The failures against Vardar (1:3), Dinamo Zagreb (0:1) and Zagreb (0:0) followed up, but we also played two good games against Hajduk, in Split (2:2) and against Partizan (1:1). The championship successfully finished on the winner’s podium, in a furious way, with ten goals scored in the last two rounds - BSK (5:3) and Spartak (5:1). In late June, after the end of the championship, we played an international exhibition match with Juventus in Sao Paolo (0:0), and then successfully started a tour around Belgium and West Germany - Liege (2:2), Köln (4:2).
