Statistics say - full Marakana to topple the Norwegians

Out of a total of ten matches played, the red and whites won six matches, one match ended in a draw, while they also suffered three defeats, which represents a positive score with teams from Norway. 

The first time the Red Star players met the Norwegians was back in 1980, when they played against Viking. Then, in the round of 16 of the European Champions Cup, the players of our team first achieved a 2:3 triumph on the away field, while in Belgrade the result was even more convincing 4:1. A packed Maracana and our 12th player have always given extra strength to the red and whites, and it was the same against the Scandinavian team. 

The next double match was played two years later, when the first team of our club fought against Lillesterm for the round of 16 of the Cup Winners' Cup. The first match was again reserved for away games, and the red and whites were more than convincing with 0:4. The players of Zvezda played a great game in Belgrade as well, with a recognizable atmosphere when they celebrated with 3:0. 

Rosenborg was Zvezda's next rival from the climate of Norway. In the fall of 1986, our team traveled to the north of Europe, where it triumphed in the first match of the round of 16 of the European Champions Cup with 0:3. This was followed by a rematch in the capital of Serbia and another convincing victory of 4:1. 

It has been a long time until the next match between Red Star and the Norwegian team. It was only in 2003 that our club played a goalless draw with Rosenborg in the second round of the UEFA Cup, while we suffered a 0:1 defeat in the second leg at Maracana. 

The last duel before the double match with Bode Glimt was played by our footballers with the Norwegian team Tromso in 2005. The red and whites played on the away field and suffered a 3:1 defeat. 

It is interesting to note that in the four games played at home against Norwegian teams, our team achieved three wins and only one loss, and Marakana showed its power in every situation and was a wind at the back of the red and whites.
