The match opened with two goals that Miljković and Damjanović failed to use, and Cvetković scored in the fifth minute, but from an illegal position, which was a sign for the red and whites to consolidate and take the initiative. Aleksa Damjanović opened the scoring for the rivals in the 15th minute, who handled Kostov's pass after a crowd in the box, and then soon doubled the advantage. The tall center forward also scored in the 22nd minute when Đorđević crossed for him, and the talented goalscorer just stretched out and beat Maksimović with his head.

The crossbar shook in the 26th minute when Ranković shot from a long distance practically from the first, but the shot was improved by Maksimović who hooked the ball and sent it into the crossbar. Popović lacked a little more concentration in the 38th minute when, after the penetration of the agile Storebre, he shot over the goal from the penalty spot.

The visitors reduced the score in the 50th minute when Uroš Blagojević was accurate from the penalty spot. As it usually happens in football, the penalty followed immediately, and Saša Storebra ran to the rebound after Popović's shot and equalized.

Zvezda quickly consolidated, and in the 69th minute, Bulatović passed on the right flank, and Aleksandar Ljujić made a good run and scored Maksimović's goal from the box. Maksimović stood out two minutes later and brilliantly saved Damjanović's shot, but we saw a fantastic move by Uroš Đorđević who blocked, outsmarted the stopper Grafičar and scored. Another good intervention by Maksimović was seen in the 75th minute when Kostov rumbled between the stopper Grafičar and started to penetrate practically from his own half, but the goalkeeper of the guests read Zvezda's attacker and caught his "live" ball on the run.

Once again, Storebra was up to the task and in the 80th minute took advantage of the inattention of the red and whites, and brought additional unrest into the very finish of the match, which was definitely broken by Đorđević. Stolić was stopped improperly in the penalty area of Grafičar, and the fast-footed Đorđević was the sure performer, who set the final score in the 84th minute.
