Lekić: Full Maracana gives birth to heroes

- The match against Dinamo Tbilisi changed a lot in my life and career. It's all been up since then, but a lot happened that night. We lost 2:0 in Grizia, the opponent was objectively unattractive, and few believed that we would turn it around at Maracana. It was literally a fight for "bare life". The match started unluckily, I scored an own goal and it is one of the most difficult moments in my career. Still, I told myself I still had 88 minutes to turn things around. I'm not someone who gives up easily, I really had faith that we would be able to turn things around - Lekić began, and then continued:

- In general, not much was expected from that generation of ours. However, there was pressure, because we knew that we were wearing Zvezda's jersey and that we had to win every game. Then I got the impression that we played more for a fight than for quality. However, when the north thunders, so do the east and the west. That's something that carries you to victory, that was the turning point - the fans.

He also recalled the third goal he scored in that game, at the very end of the match for total rhapsody at the Maracana.

- The minutes are melting, the ball from the middle, Lazetić, then Bogdanović, and I am in the penalty area next to two, or even three. I followed as much as I could, I was too tired, because I had run a lot. I literally jerked the ball with my last atom of strength and hit it, and the emotions at that moment... It cannot be described. You watch the goal, everyone in the stands is jumping, I felt like I was on another planet. The Maracana literally thunders at that moment.

Lekić believes in this generation.

- Bode has had a good team for years, they play in Europe, they are always preparing for the Champions League. They are certainly better than Dinamo Tbilisi, but Zvezda should not think much of them. We have everything in our hands. We play in front of our fans, that's a big advantage. I believe in the players, the staff, exactly. I expect a pass. Zvezda has excellent chemistry in the team, you can see it and it could decide. I believe that the stadium will be full on Wednesday and that everyone in jerseys will come to the game - said Lekić with a smile.
