We watched a very combative and aggressive opening part of the match from Zvezda's side, which was expected from our players in the "Belgrade" derby. With a large number of direct forward passes, they exerted constant "pressing" on their peers from Čukaricki. It was a good start for the red and whites, in addition to dominating possession, the focus of the game was on the third of the pitch, which was defended by the players in black
jerseys.
Damjanović had the first chance in the eighth minute of the game, who after a cross kicked a very nice header, but the attempt ended over the crossbar. Damjanović was also the first to shoot into the frame of the goal, to whom Zarić sent the ball from the right flank, but this time the visiting goalkeeper stood out with his intervention. In the 13th minute, Krstić made great use of the "carom" in the guests' penalty area, and "caught" the volley and shot awkwardly, but Popović was up to the task again.
The last line of the Red Star worked very well. In addition to the stability they provided in their own half, they participated in building actions and playing off teammates. Goalkeeper Radanović also brilliantly found the guys in red and white several times under pressure, without making any mistakes. In the first half, Zvezda players had complete control and initiative over this derby, but they failed to materialize it.
Jevdjić shot from a distance in the 37th minute of the game, after the Čukaricki players cleared the ball after a cross, but the shot ended up over the goal. Jevđić was definitely the biggest threat to the visitors' goal in the first half of the match. Radanović made an excellent intervention in the 42nd minute, he saved a strong shot from 30 meters by the guests.
The red and white took the lead at the very end of the first half. After a mistake by the player Čukarički in front of our penalty area, Jevđić ran 60 meters like a "fast train" and then phenomenally found Zarić in the middle, who had no difficulty beating the visitors' goalkeeper in a "one-on-one" situation.
The second half started with a great pass into the area of Žurić, after which Zarić shot from 20 meters "left-handed", but that ball flew a little past the left post. The tempo of the game at the beginning of the second part was completely different from that of the first. The game was much more fluid and faster, and Zvezda took advantage of that and created new opportunities through their fast wingers. It was played firmly and without deviating from an aggressive approach. Our players, who had a better transition from defense to attack, were better at it than today's rival. The players from the defense stood out, who made no mistakes today. They used the possessions they won and went forward very directly, with the aim of reaching the penalty area with as few passes and touches as possible.
Čukarički.
Zvezda had a great opportunity in the 76th minute after a very elegant penetration by Karanović, but Popović made a great save and intervened. After a corner kick in the 80th minute, substitute Subotic had a great chance, but once again the ball ended up in the hands of the visiting goalkeeper. In the 86th minute, after a break by Petrović, Vranić was the highest in the jump, and he sent a great shot that ended a few centimeters past the right post.
