One of the biggest upheavals in the history of Crvena zvezda took place in the 1978/79 season, when Dinamo Berlin arrived at Marakana. The Germans came to our stadium with a three-goal advantage (5:2), but the red-and-whites managed in an unusual way, led by the roar from the stands, to score four goals and advance to the next round, and the match itself was recalled by the legendary Crvena zvezda football player – Dule Savić.
- Every time I think about this game, it's still amazing to me what we achieved. After the defeat in Germany, Dinamo took the lead in the first half, and after the first 45 minutes in Belgrade they led with a total score of 6:2. However, we did not give up, we believed that two quick goals would bring us back into the game. In the end, we scored four and deservedly went on, and that game was the springboard that led us all the way to the final with Borussia Mönchengladbach - recalled Dula Savić.
The red and whites recorded the largest attendance at the time, and he touched on an anecdote related to a fan who did not believe in Zvezda and left the field after the first 45 minutes.
- These are different times. Then, after the heavy defeat in Berlin, more than 70 thousand people waited for us at the Maracana, which was the average for that season when it comes to European matches. They knew they were our greatest strength, which proved to be true in the end. I know that a couple of people left from the west at half-time, and one of the fans who left the stadium still regrets to this day that he did not witness the historic turnaround of Red Star.
The crowd is one of the main factors for the triumph against Bode Glimt, and he hopes that the Maracana will be full on Wednesday.
- What would Miljan Miljanić say - the result is active. There is no more away goal rule, so it won't be enough to score just one. However, I am convinced that if the Maracana is filled to capacity and the fans give the support that only they can in the world, we can all celebrate the passage of our Star to the Champions League. I also heard about the action that everyone comes to the game in jerseys, so it will be a real red and white spectacle - concluded the legendary football player.
