Zvezda's jubilee 100th match in the Champions League

Barak Bahar's team faced Young Boys in the second round of the Champions League group stage. Although the red and whites dominated and created a large number of opportunities, they failed to win all three points and triumph in front of the fans who filled the Maracana stands in our club's 100th game in the Champions League.

In the match against the Swiss team, the first team members of Crvena Zvezda came close to another anniversary, given that they scored two goals and now they are the same number of goals away from 200 in the prestigious European competition.

During its rich history, Red Star has played in a total of 153 games, including the Champions League qualifiers. The total balance of matches in the most prestigious competition, fought for by generations of football players who wore the red and white jersey, is positive to the pride of all star players and amounts to 70 wins, 47 losses, while 36 duels ended in a draw.

The fans of our club enjoyed the incredible matches of Red Star, like in further history - a double match against Fiorentina in 1957 in the semi-finals of the European Champions Cup, but also against Panathinaikos in 1971 in the same stage of the competition. In the Champions League decades ago, the Red and Whites competed against European giants such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid, Milan... The matches that the star players remember the most are the double match with Bayern that was played in 1991. as well as the famous final in Bari against Olympique Marseille, when Red Star climbed to the roof of Europe. Also, the younger generations enjoyed the fantastic duels against Salzburg, Copenhagen, Young Boys, Liverpool and Olympiakos that were played in our club's previous two appearances in the Champions League.

The red and whites will play their next match in the Champions League against Leipzig on the away field on October 25 at 21:00 and have the opportunity to mark new anniversaries.
