Zvezda TV | On the coast of the sun

The "Costa del Sol" trophy, or "Coast of the Sun" in Sanskrit, is one of the football tournaments with the longest tradition in Europe, given that it has been organized since 1961. Our club took part in the aforementioned competition twice, and the physically heaviest cup, which weighs an incredible 40 kilograms, was won in 1973. Every August, the Spanish club of the same name was the host at the "La Rosaleda" stadium in Malaga, and in addition to our Red Star, Espanyol and Boca Juniors competed that year. In the final game, the red and whites played against the host of the tournament and won 2:1, and the scorers were Janković and Jovanović.

In cooperation with the Spanish brand "Kuligan" to mark the 50th anniversary of winning the tournament, a t-shirt was made that is a "remake" of the jersey that Zvezda wore when they won the trophy that adorns the showcases of our museum, and in addition achieved numerous other successes. The photo shoot in specially designed jerseys was attended by the legends of our club, Jovan Kule Aćimović and Stanislav Karasi, as actors of the famous tournament in 1973, as well as today's Zvezda first team players - Aleksandar Dragović and Jean Filip Craso.
