The Red Star football club will participate in the implementation of four European Commission projects, which place special emphasis on issues of gender inequality and limited opportunities for the advancement of younger generations.
Our club confirms daily that it is socially responsible, both within the borders of the Republic of Serbia and at the European level. In order to draw attention to the problems of today's society, but also to encourage people to take action, Red Star decided to get involved in the projects of the European Commission.
1. "Sport4Equality" or sport for unity is a project that emphasizes the importance of teaching children how to be inclusive and accept everyone, regardless of background or ability, because they are the basis for the future growth and development of inclusive societies. Learning about inclusiveness from a young age is extremely important, as the knowledge gained at an early age will have a huge impact in their lives later on. When children grow up, their actions will have an impact on society, and teaching them basic values means contributing to the creation of strong social ties and relationships, contributing to the promotion of tolerance, mutual respect, solidarity and equality. The goal of the project is the promotion of sports and sports activities among children, encouraging the inclusion of children from different backgrounds and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle among children aged 13 to 17, regardless of their abilities and origins.
2. "Genball" or gender equality as a new power in football is a project that aims to include women, who have always been underrepresented in sports. The aim of the European Commission project is to strengthen gender equality and develop sustainable models, which provide equal opportunities for the informal education of female coaches and scouts, as well as the professional development of football club management. Also promoting the best practices of EU football clubs in the Western Balkans through models, in order to facilitate greater participation of women in football and football structures.
3. "Emchamp" or empowered champions is a project related to supporting young people with fewer opportunities in football. The modern football world needs knowledge, education and support in order to establish appropriate management, in order to facilitate the process of creating a support system for economically disadvantaged youth, as well as monitoring success and development. The guiding idea is to create a network of football clubs and sports organizations that would contribute to the creation of a socially responsible and sustainable system of investment in careers and support for young athletes with fewer opportunities. Drawing the attention of managers, coaches and staff in football to social inclusion and bringing together young people, youth workers and actors in sports through targeted activities. Create, introduce, promote and improve the system of funding and support for future champions and share it as an example of good practice among domestic and international actors.
4. "Womad" or women against discrimination. Although there have been some improvements in the past 20 years when it comes to women's participation in sports, there is still much to be done to achieve equality, as gender inequality is still widely present in all sports sectors today. The project wants to make its small but very significant contribution starting from the very basics: involving boys and girls in sports activities that are usually considered a male prerogative, such as football.
