Meet Zvezda's rival - PSV

PSV is a club that was founded in Eindhoven on August 31, 1913 and is one of the most trophy-winning Dutch football teams. Throughout their rich history, they won: the European Champions Cup in the 1987/88 season, the UEFA Cup in the 1977/78 season, 25 times they were champions of the Netherlands, 11 times they won the Dutch Cup and 14 times they were the winners of the Dutch Super Cup.

Our team met the PSV team only twice. It was in the 2004/05 season, in the third round of Champions League qualification. In addition to a good first match for our team, PSV showed how tough a rival it is, and pushed our team away from the best European football competition. The first game was played at "Maracana" in front of more than 50,000 people. The fact that it was refereed by one of the best referees in history - Pierluigi Collina - showed how important that match was. Our team won with a score of 3:2, and the goals were scored by Milan Dudić, Boško Janković and Marko Pantelić. In addition to the mentioned trio, players like: Nikola Žiigić, Dušan Basta, Aleksandar Luković, Milan Biševac played for our team. On the other hand, PSV featured players with enviable football careers, such as Mark van Bommel and Ji-sung Park. In the return match, PSV defeated Zvezda with a score of 5:0.

The head of the coaching staff of the Dutch team is Peter Bosch. He has been on the PSV bench since the beginning of last season, and he brought "instant" results, winning the "Erdivisie" in his first year. The system cultivated by this Dutch expert is a slightly more defensive variant of the popular 4-3-3 formation. They play with two rear midfielders, while one is a bit more offensive and helps in the attack. In the transition phase, this formation somewhat resembles the 4-2-3-1 system. Like most Dutch teams, they play quite fast, with a lot of direct passing, without much delay. This already proven way of playing brings them notable results in the new season, and after four rounds played, PSV is the first team in the Dutch elite football ranking. They have 12 points and a really great goal difference - 18:3.

The lineup of the PSV team consists of the following players: Benitez - Ledezma, Flamingo, Boscalji, Opegard - Thiel, Verman, Thielman - Lang, Driusz, De Jong. The greatest strength of the Dutch team lies precisely in the fact that they have many versatile players who can play in different positions.
