In this year's edition of the Champions League, Red Star will compete against an already well-known rival - the Young Boys team. The match with the Swiss champion will be played on January 29, 2025 in Bern, from 9 p.m.

The club from the capital of Switzerland was founded on March 14, 1898. The stadium where they play home games is "Wankdorf", which is specific in that the stands are very close to the field, which has an artificial surface. The stands of their stadium can accommodate a little less than 32 thousand people. Young Boys is a club that won trophies only in Switzerland. As many as 17 trophies are in the Young Boys museum: 17 Swiss League Cups, eight Swiss Cup Cups, one Swiss Super Cup and one Swiss League Cup.

Our team has met the Swiss club six times throughout history. Four times the matches of the two clubs were played within the qualification for the most elite European competition, while the last two times they met in the group stage of the Champions League. Crvena zvezda is a club known for playing two-legged games, and it was no different in the meetings with the Swiss champions. The first double-header was played in the 2004/2005 season, in the second round of Champions League qualification. The first match played in Switzerland ended with a score of 2:2, and the goals in that match were scored by Nikola Žigić. In the return match in Belgrade, Zvezda dominantly won the overall result, with a 3:0 victory. In the 2019/2020 season, Zvezda also eliminated the team in the playoffs for the Champions League
Young Boys. In Bern, the result was mirrored, as in the first occasion, 2:2. Admittedly, it was somewhat tighter in Belgrade. However, Milan Rodić and Aleksa Vukanović made sure that the red and whites entered the group stage of the Champions League. In the season behind us, two games were played in the group stage of the best European competition. The score was 2:2 at "Maracana", and in the second game in Switzerland, Young Boys were better than our club, with a score of 2:0.

The coach of the Swiss team is 55-year-old Patrick Ramen, who arrived at Young Boys at the beginning of this season. His game system is 4-2-3-1, with high pressing. The Young Boys are a team known for very often outscoring their rivals. They have real Swiss discipline, and it is very difficult to catch them off guard and out of position. After excellent results from last season, they started this season somewhat weaker. After six played rounds in the Swiss championship, Young Boys is in the last, 12th place in the table. They have three draws, with three defeats.

Their team with what: Keller - Blum, Zukru, Husić, Hadjam - Nijase, Luper - Ugrinić, Maleš, Koli - Iten. The biggest threat to our team could be players with Serbian roots, Darijan Maleš and Filip Ugrinić, who are skilled with the ball and, due to their physical predispositions, very difficult to guard.
