The first rival of Red Star in the group stage of the Champions League will be Manchester City, the current champion of England and Europe.

There is no doubt that the current Manchester City is one of the best teams in the history of football. Led by Pep Guardiola, as well as some of the best footballers in the world, it seems that they are living a golden age, and that they have never been this successful since the club was founded. For years, they managed in various ways to remain without the Champions League title, although they established sovereign dominance in the Premier League a few seasons ago. However, last year was the right one for them, considering that Europe was won with a triumph over Inter in the final with a score of 1:0, when the game was decided by Rodri's goal. "Citizens" could write history this season and become the only club with four Premier League wins in a row, however, the season has just started and it's too early to predict, but according to all parameters, they are the first favorites for the trophy this year as well.

Although their dominance is linked to the 21st century and large investments by rich sheikhs, Manchester City won their first title back in 1937, and so far they have nine on their account. It is a fact that they have spent much of their history on the seesaw between the Premier League and the Championship, but when Aguero scored a late injury time goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012 to give the club the title, it was clear that a new era was about to begin. In their defense, all titles, except this European one, were won in the 20th century, and the first FA Cup was won in 1904 (seven in total), League Cup in 1970 (eight in total), English Super Cup in 1938 (six in total), with the 1970 Cup Winners' Cup. Interestingly, they have also won the Championship seven times, and they almost have the UEFA Super Cup trophy, after a better penalty shootout than Sevilla, after a 1:1 draw in regular time and a goal by Palmer, who in the meantime boosted Chelsea.

Manchester City is decorated with light blue color, and the Etihad stadium where they play receives 55 thousand fans. Their senior team has 24 footballers, and the average age is 26, while the team is led by one of the best coaches in the world, Pep Guardiola. They were also active in this transfer window, so Josko Guardiol from Leipzig, Mateus Nunes from Wolves, Jeremy Doku from Rennes, and Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea arrived.

The first star of the team is certainly Erling Haaland, although the impression is that the most important player for the team is Kevin De Bruyne, who is injured and, as things stand, will miss the first game against our team. Apart from those two, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, as well as Julián Alvarez are usually in the attack, although the forwards Nunes and Doku are also looking for minutes. Their backs are guarded by Rodri, as well as newcomer Kovačić. When it comes to the defensive line, Kyle Walker is on the right side of the line, while Nathan Ake is on the left side. The stopper tandem will consist of Ruben Dias and Guardiol, although there is also John Stones, who covers almost all positions, both in defense and in the defensive midfield, and Manuel Akanji. Ederson is irreplaceable in goal.

There is no doubt that we have two big games ahead of us against probably the best team in the world right now. The first meeting is scheduled for September 19 when we host Manchester City from 9:00 p.m., and then we will meet them on December 13 at the Maracana from 6:45 p.m.
