Red Star players visit Inter on Tuesday at 9 p.m., in the second round of the new Champions League format.
MUTUAL MEETINGS
Despite the fact that both teams have been almost constant participants in European competitions throughout their history, fate brought them together only on two occasions.
Zvezda and Inter met in the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup in the 1980/81 season, and the first match was played at "Giuseppe Meazza". It ended with a score of 1:1, and the goal for our team was scored by Srebrenko Repčić.
However, we did not manage to respond in the second leg, and at the full Maracana, Inter recorded a triumph with a minimal score, and the scorer of the only goal in the game was Muraro.
BE PART OF THE STAR
All fans of our club will be able to watch the first game of the doubleheader live on Arena Premium 1. You can also follow our studio on Zvezda TV, and after the game you can expect statements from the coach and players, as well as the end of the program.
Due to the ban on our fans from attending the match against Inter, our club decided to install a large video beam on the athletic track, and everyone interested will be able to watch the match against the Italian champion in the western stand. Entrance is free.
TEAM FORM
The red and whites have an almost perfect start to the season, and so far they have recorded only two defeats. One by Bode Glimt, which Zvezda easily overcame with a triumph in Belgrade and a place in the Champions League, while the other was inflicted by Benfica in the premiere in the most elite European club competition - 1:2. In the domestic championship, in ten games played, we have nine wins and only one draw, and in the last round we were better than Železničar from Pancevo with a score of 2:1.
Inter, on the other hand, is currently the fourth-placed team in Serie A with 11 points won in six games played. The series of three matches without a triumph was ended by the champions of Italy in the last round with a 2:1 victory over Udinese. They overcame the "neroazuri" defeat from their biggest rival just a round earlier. In the Champions League, in the first match, they resisted one of the main favorites to win this competition, the Manchester City team.
OPPOSING PLAYERS
The coach of Inter - Simone Inzaghi most often uses the 3-5-2 formation, and the experienced Swiss Jan Zomer is in goal. The rampart in front of him in the defensive line is held by Jan Bisek, Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni. Federico Dimarco on the left and Denzel Dumfries on the right wing operate in the flank positions. Piotr Zielinski, Hakan Calhanoglu and Davide Fratezi are the main link with the most advanced players, while Henrik Mhitarian can also be found in that position. Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thiram will be the most dangerous in terms of goals for the red and whites. Mehdi Taremi, Stefan De Fray, Joaquin Correa, Benjamin Pavar, Mateo Darmian and Marko Arnautović are also options on the bench.
