Terzic: The new era of Red Star begins with Barak Bahar

At the very beginning, the general director of our club thanked Miloš Milojević for the great cooperation.

- Once again, I would like to thank Miloš Milojević for the outstanding results, for his professional and dedicated work. I am sure that one day he will return to Red Star as the head of the coaching staff. He left the door open behind him. I can comment with all sympathy on his work and gentlemanly behavior. He was up to the task in every value system that Red Star promotes - emphasized Zvezdan Terzić.

The general manager spoke with great pleasure about the new Zvezda coach.

- We gathered because of the future of Crvena zvezda, and it is with Barak Bahar, the coach whom we represent and who is with us today with his colleagues. We have a formed team coming to us, which has shown that it knows how to do its job, and I am convinced that everything it showed in its home country, it will demonstrate here as well. Regardless of all the results we have achieved, the dominance we have, six championship titles, three double crowns in a row, seven participations in the group stages of UEFA competitions - it is time for a new step forward for Red Star, it is our obligation and we feel that the people expect to raise the ladder. A new era of Crvena Zvezda is starting, that's why we decided on a coach who knows how to do it. We need fresh blood and energy, but we also need a restart with full respect for all people, players, coaches and all those who have brought a lot of joy to the fans of Red Star. It is my pleasure to present Barak Bahar, the new coach of Crvena Zvezda, with whom a three-year contract was signed, we wanted him for a year, followed, discussed, negotiated. Our wishes and his wishes coincided. He also felt it was time for a breakthrough and a new Champions League. He won six championship titles in Israel, which is not easy, three with Hapoel Be'er Sheva and three with Maccabi Haifa. We have a lot of respect for what Maccabi Haifa has shown, especially in the Champions League, when they clashed without fear with the biggest teams in Europe, such as Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Zvezdan Terzic confirmed that Crvena Zvezda's interest in Barak Bahar appeared before the two-match playoff for the Champions League that was played in August 2022 between Crvena Zvezda and Maccabi Haifa.

- Before we played in the qualifiers against Maccabi from Haifa, we started to be interested in Bahar.

The general manager of Crvena zvezda expressed his expectations for the upcoming 2023/24 season.

- I announced the changes six months ago, when I said that we are aware of the quality, but also of the need to bring fresh blood and energy, some new strength that Red Star needs. In this direction, our scouting team with the sports sector has already done a lot this year, some of which we are bringing to an end. In the last two months, we involved Bahar and his professional staff in the whole procedure. It is clear to us what kind of player profile the new coach is looking for and we bring in players accordingly. We will certainly be faster, stronger, more offensive, younger than we have been so far. We are aware of all the qualities and shortcomings of this team, we do not need advice, which we heard even now at the press conference. We have shown that we know how to do this job in the previous nine years, as well as that we know how to produce results. The trophies that have been won give us the right to be a little overbearing. Six months ago, we announced to media representatives that there would be a serious reconstruction of the team, all in accordance with the agreements with the new coach.

Zvezdan Terzić did not want to reveal the names of potential reinforcements.

- You know we never mention names before we initial the player. I have explained before why, we do not want to complicate the negotiation position and raise the price with potential reinforcements of Red Star. When we complete the transfers then we will announce. It seems that even the walls have ears in Red Star, every conversation we have is leaked to the media, often incorrectly.

The general manager announced as many as two reinforcements in the forward position.

- Spitz is close to coming, not one, but two. The team needs four strikers, the fact that two are coming does not mean that one is leaving.

Terzić also spoke about replacing the pitches at the stadiums of the clubs that will play in the Serbian Super League next season.

- Given that we will have extremely fast pitches and that new hybrid pitches will be installed at all 16 stadiums, there will be no problem - concluded Zvezdan Terzić.
