Summary of Zvezda's successful season

We will start from the Super League, in which Red Star was once again dominant and won the 34th championship title with 97 points. After 37 games, we recorded 30 wins and seven draws, and another title was won without defeat in the season, and Zvezda's unbeaten streak at the Maracana, as well as in the entire Super League, threatens to go around the world and break records that were set a long time ago. The best attack with 96 goals scored and the steely defense with 19 goals conceded additionally contributed to the success brought by Miloš Milojević, as well as Dejan Stanković, who started the season as coach of Crvena zvezda. It was the sixth in a series of titles for our club, with which this generation continues to push the limits, and it should be noted that the trophy was mathematically secured at the end of April, six rounds until the end of the Super League.

When we talk about the Serbian Cup, Zvezda has 15 games in a row without defeat, which clearly means that they have won three of the biggest competitions in a row. Routinely, Zvezda reached the final with four triumphs, where they defeated Čukarički with a score of 2:1, when Aleksandar Pešić reversed the result with two goals and brought the club the third double crown in a row.

Zvezda started the season in the Champions League qualifiers and after the elimination of Pyunik, they were eliminated by Maccabi Haifa, which meant that we will be playing in the group stage of the second most prestigious competition on the Old Continent. However, we finished the competition in the group stage with Monaco, Trabzon and Ferencvaros as fourth place, so this season's European fairy tale ended in December, but the next year will be more special than the previous ones, because we secured a direct placement in the Champions League.

Calculating everything cumulatively, Red Star played 52 games in the season behind us and achieved 39 victories, with eight draws and five losses, and a goal difference of 126:37. Aleksandar Katai was irreplaceable and played 50 games, and at the same time took the title of the best scorer with 19 goals (Kanga and Pešić 16, Bukari 15), while the most creative is Mirko Ivanić with 15 assists (Kanga 13, Katai 12). As many as five footballers recorded a double-double performance - Katai (19 goals and 12 assists), Kanga (16 goals and 13 assists), Pešić (16 goals and 10 assists), Bukari (15 goals and 10 assists), Ivanić (11 goals and 15 assists). Kangwa was also in double figures in terms of goals, who scored 12 times, with six assists. The oldest football player this season was captain Milan Borjan (1987), and the youngest was Jovan Mijatović (2005). A total of 39 footballers played for Zvezda this season, and the year was also marked by numerous player anniversaries.
