The team of Nenad Milijaš opened the match well, when in the fourth minute, after a cross from Đorđević from the right side, Tošić sent a header from the edge of the box, but he failed to shake the home team's net. The home team took the lead in the fifth minute, and the goal was scored by Žagar.

The red and whites attacked in order to score an equalizing goal as soon as possible. They gave up very little possession to the opponent, and they pressed very high in the opponent's half, who defended with all 11 players behind the ball. Kostov had a chance after a corner halfway through the first half, he caught a volley from the edge of the penalty area, but Ćuruvija managed to control his attempt from distance. Zvezda had a great opportunity in the 35th minute of the game, when Markočević turned his keeper very expertly, and then put Ranković to work, whose shot from the right side managed to be stopped by the goalkeeper of the New Belgrade team. Our boys attacked until the end of the first half, but they did not materialize their opportunities, and they went to the big break with a goal behind.

A great start to the second half for our team was marked by a goal in the 48th minute. Initially, Ristovski left his defenders behind with a great penetration, and then he sent a cross to Davorin Tošić, who caught the volley with his right foot and beat the goalkeeper of the home team - Ćuruvija. Motivated, Nenad Milijaš's players took to the field in the second half, and after the goal, the rushes intensified more and more. Our opportunities were not used, and IMT took the lead again in the 53rd minute through Lebi.

The red and white wanted to even the second tie in the match, and the home players defended frantically. Nevertheless, Zvezda players were persistent, and it paid off for them, because in the 64th minute Vasilije Kostov, after a great dribbling, kicked into the right corner of the goal and thus checked Ćuruvija. Our football players tried until the end of the game with attacks on the sides of the field, but they did not manage to reach the desired goal. Since Kostov's equalizing goal, IMT players tended to play rough in the middle of the field, and to deaden the game and thus prevent our team from achieving a complete turnaround.
