Zvezda's museum has more than 700 trophies, and today we bring you the story of the "Sister Cities" cup that our club won in 2010 in Chicago.
The "Sister Cities" Cup in Chicago was held in the period from May 19 to 22, 2010, and the tournament featured four teams: Legia from Warsaw, Chicago Fire, Paris Saint-Germain and of course our Red Star. We met with Legia in the semi-finals, and constantly attacked, and were a much better rival. The opponent from Warsaw was slowly faltering, they felt the red and white weakness of the opponent and bravely moved forward, and towards the end of the match we also saw drama when Nikolić missed from the penalty spot. Just a few minutes later, in the 75th minute, it was Nikolić who sent Miloš Trifunović to work with a beautiful cross and thus redeemed himself for his mistake. The match was attended by about three thousand Zvezda fans who came from various parts of the USA, and this was an ideal opportunity to watch their beloved club and cheer on the red and white boys with all their heart.
The now famous final against Paris Saint-Germain followed, and thousands of red and white balloons rose into the sky in the stadium, which is another proof that Red Star has great support on whatever continent it plays. The song of Zvezda's fans, which this time numbered around seven thousand, was more than enough for Kada Mendes to defeat her rival in the 73rd minute. However, the rival equalized at the end of the match, and penalty kicks were taken. Six series passed - without a mistake, and then Saša Stamenković entered the scene and saved a penalty kick, with which Zvezda won the tournament. This was followed by the celebration of Zvezda's fans, and another great story about the won trophy.
The team was led from the bench by Ratko Dostanić.
