As soon as the game started, Crvena Zvezda took the lead. After an uncertain intervention by the visitors' stopper in front of their penalty area, Luka Zarić took advantage of the opportunity and scored a goal for Zvezda. Just four minutes later, after Zvezda's uncompromising pressure bore fruit, Jevdjić shot from 20 meters, but the ball ended up over the crossbar.

After a corner in the 14th minute of the game, a big crowd was created in the Partizan box, which ended with a shot from the goal line. The visitors' defenders intervened to prevent an increase in the score in favor of Zvezda. Goalkeeper Radanović stood out in the 21st minute when, in a "1 on 1" situation, he expertly "shortened" the corner to the Partizan attacker, and then saved the shot.

Zvezda hit the post in the 35th minute, when Milašinović surprised the visitors' goalkeeper with a cross from the left flank, whose uncertain intervention led to the post shaking. Zvezda was then left with one less player.

The guests equalized in the 49th minute through Obradović, and soon Zvezda had the first chance in the continuation of the game. After the break, Damjanović put the ball phenomenally into the box, and Žurić shot with his head, but that attempt ended up over the crossbar of the Partizan goal.

Zvezda had a huge chance for another goal. In the 64th minute, Petrović found Mrvaljević at the second post with a phenomenal cross, but Kosanović managed to "take" the ball out of the goal.

After a short "lull" on the field, Mrvaljević was once again a threat for Partizan's goal after the break. His attempt ended up a few inches over the visitors' crossbar. Unfortunately, the eternal rival signed a turnaround through Dončić in the 88th minute and took the entire spoils from the field behind the south of the Maracana.
