Talented Andrija Maksimović entered the game at the League of Nations match between Serbia and Switzerland and managed to become the youngest debutant in the history of our country's national team in competitive matches.
At only 17 years and 129 days, Maksimović played for the A national team, and overtook the famous Mitar Mrkela, who played his first match for the national team, the then national team of Yugoslavia, at the age of 17 years and 130 days. The former player, now the sports director of Crvena zvezda, wore the national team jersey for the first time on November 17, 1982 against Bulgaria (1:0) in Sofia.
Counting only competitive duels, Maksimović is in the first position, while he is the youngest debutant in the history of the national team, also another Andrija, this time Živković played his first duel against Japan in 2013 in a friendly match.
There is no doubt that Andrija Maksimović has just begun to write the pages of football history, both in Crvena zvezda and in the national team.
