Leković: We all have the Champions League on our minds, we are preparing as much as possible

- I managed to rest after the end of the season. I had a break for 10 days, I was at sea with the best runner-up, and then there was the gathering of the young Serbian national team and joining Zvezda - began Leković.

Unfortunately, the defender suffered a minor injury at the gathering of the young national team.

- I was injured when I was in the youth national team, but in a few days it will be fine and I will join the work with the team. The intensity is high, you can see that right away. Since the arrival of the new head of the coaching staff, the training sessions have been extremely strong, there was also a BBC test, we worked on possession, we played two-goal football. Spajić and I are working on the side, recovering and waiting for connection. When that happens, I will do my best to prepare as well as possible for the next season.

Lekovic has no dilemma between sun or rain when it comes to training conditions.

- It is easier to train in the rain, these days it was so warm that it is difficult to stand on the field, let alone run and train.

The first game is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m., and Leković expects great support from the star players.

- The star army is big all over Europe and wherever we go - our fans are there and we feel at home. At every step, people stop us, question us, take pictures with us, and that's nice. Already in the first match against the Uzice national team, I expect a lot of our fans. I have no doubt when it comes to them, they are the best, I expect them in even greater numbers in the league games next season, not to mention the Champions League.

Leković, as well as Šljivić, Mijatović and Nedeljković, are waiting for not one, but two Champions Leagues next season.

- There is talk about the Champions League, there is great enthusiasm in that regard, because the previous season was historic. Now, for the first time, there are no qualifiers, but an immediate group stage and we await the draw on August 31. I can also play for the youth, I will be a record holder, the fourth time I will perform in the Champions League for youth. Joking aside, I will gladly accept the invitation if it comes, it will be an honor to cooperate with Nenad Milijaš. I am always here for Zvezda.

Leković is in competition for the prestigious "Golden Boy" award.

- I did not expect to be among the 100 best young players under the age of 21. I'm still 19, the competition is big and I like it. I knew about the award, but I was not aware of how and what, only people from the club informed me that I was included in the list. I don't like to talk about myself a lot, but I like it.

The team spirit is at a high level, despite working hard, there is time for rest and socializing.

- The atmosphere is really fantastic and we hang out in our free time. When it's time to rest, we're in the room, but as soon as we can, we're together right away. The government creates a team spirit and that's very pleasing - said Leković with a smile.
