FC Crvena zvezda continues with activities in the summer transfer window and we are very pleased that the new footballer of our club is one of the most talented players in Serbia - Lazar Jovanović. It is about a winger born in 2006 who signed a three-year contract with Zvezda, which is the maximum duration for a minor footballer.
The first to welcome Jovanović was our sports director, Mitar Mrkela, who speaks superlatives about the talent of the youth representative of Serbia.
- The policy of the club is to bring the most talented young players from Serbia and Lazar belongs to that group. He played in Vojvodina and is a real pearl of Serbian football, so I am extremely glad that he is in Crvena Zvezda. I think that Serbian football lacks players of that profile and I believe that the fans will recognize his talent and support him on his way to becoming a great player for Crvena Zvezda. He is fast, a dribbler, has a one-on-one game, and these are the attributes that recommended him to Zvezda. We have followed him for a really long time and I believe that in the coming period, in the matches that our team plays, he will show quality and leave a deep mark in the club. We have been working for a long time to bring the most talented players from Serbia to Zvezda and we care about them being the backbone of the club in the future - said Mrkela.
Jovanovic borrowed the jersey with number 91 and expressed his great satisfaction for coming to the red and white camp.
- I am overjoyed and full of emotions. I came to the biggest club in the Balkans and I am aware that there are great expectations from me, but I believe that I will be able to justify them, and that I will achieve great success with Zvezda. I'm not afraid of expectations in that sense, but they motivate me even more. I came to work, to train and to impose myself on the head of the coaching staff. I already did the morning training with the team, and my teammates accepted me brilliantly. I know a large number of them from the younger categories, we played against each other, also from the national team. As for me personally, I like to play in the position of forward midfielder, midfielder, striker. I didn't play much for the first team of Vojvodina, but I showed my main characteristics in the younger categories. I believe that I have a feel for the goal, dribbling on the run and from the spot, shooting from distance, realization, and mostly attacking features are my forte. I want to win the double crown with Zvezda and to be competitive in Europe, and as far as I'm concerned, to assert myself as soon as possible and fight for the starting line-up - said Jovanović.
Lazar Jovanović was born on November 30, 2006 in Novi Sad and passed the youth selection of Vojvodina, for whose first team he made his debut at the age of 16. He appeared in a total of 17 games, and scored one goal, the winner in stoppage time against Voždovac. He is a standard member of the junior selections of the Serbian national team.
