Zvezda's midfielder Gelor Kanga played two matches in the red and white jersey at the "Slavko Maletin Vava" stadium, and the fact that he recorded as many as five assists in Bačka Palanka shows that he is in a particularly good mood on this field.
Our club will have its first away game in the 2024/25 season in Bačka Palanka against a newcomer in the Super League, the Tekstilac team. At the stadium, which was opened on July 7, 1951, the red and whites visited for the first time on October 28, 2015, when we won 1:3 thanks to the goals of the double scorer Alexander Katai and the temperamental left back Luis Ibáñez.
However, so far Gelor Kanga has been a special inspiration at the aforementioned stadium. The Gabonese played two duels against OFK Bačka, when we count only the away games of the Serbian champion, and in them he distributed final passes, scored goals and contributed to the triumphs of Red Star.
In the 2016/17 season, after arriving in Belgrade, Kanga lost twice to Richmond Boaći in a match that ended with a score of 0:3. First, in the fifth minute, he moved the rival's defensive line with a light "prick", and "served" the center forward from Ghana a hundred percent chance for a sure goal. In the same match, in the 37th minute of the match, Kanga accepted the ball in the middle of the field and assisted the Zvezda striker again with a pass into the area.
In the second term in the red and white jersey, Gelor Kanga again showed a great edition in the 2020/21 season at the "Slavko Maletin Vava" stadium. It was the last match that the red and whites played in Bačka Palanka, and it is remembered for the great victory of 0:5. Kanga also opened the aforementioned duel with an assist for Milan Pavkov, with a cross from the right flank in the early stages of the match. Then Zvezda's eight "set up" two goals for Željko Gavrić in the 24th and 36th minutes of the match. In the first situation, Kanga "slipped" the pass between the stopper and the back of the opponent's defensive line, while 12 minutes later he assisted Zvezda's pupil in an almost identical way. The only difference is that the pass went between the two central defenders of Bačka, recognizing the ideal run of a teammate, who had no difficulty scoring a goal.
There is no doubt that the "Slavko Maletin Vava" stadium especially inspires the Gabonese representative, so the experienced footballer will have the opportunity to play again in Bačka Palanka after three seasons and increase his personal performance, and help the red and whites achieve a new triumph.
As a reminder, the match between Tekstilac and Crvena Zvezda is scheduled for Saturday, August 3 at 8 p.m.
