Jelić: We want to make a breakthrough in the Youth Champions League

- We are sincerely looking forward to the performance in the Youth Champions League, in which we have traditionally performed for several years now. We are back in the group stage of the most prestigious football competition thanks to the first team of Crvena zvezda. We expect games at a high level, and we will do our best to make a step forward compared to the competitive year when we played with Tottenham, Bayern and Olympiakos. Although we will have a younger team compared to our rivals, and we have noticed that it is very difficult to play against an older opponent in the national championship, I am sure that we will present Red Star in the best possible light. We defend the colors of the biggest club from our area and we must not shy away from anyone. The boys play equally in strong football tournaments, equally with all teams, and I am convinced that we will show a good game in the Champions League - said Jelić.

Zvezda's first team members born in 2005 - Jovan Mijatović, Jovan Šljivić and Kosta Nedeljković will have the right to play in the Youth Champions League.

- As much as we hope that we will have help from players who will not be in the foreground of the head of the professional staff of Red Star - Barak Bahar, although it sounds unrealistic, as the leaders of the Youth School, we wish that they perform for the senior team. This would fulfill the primary goal of Zvezda's football academy. We will have a lot of support from our youth from senior football, for the first time since we participated in the group stage of the Champions League for young players. The boys from the class of 2005 will be a great addition to the junior team. I apostrophize that Nenad Milijaš will integrate the team in the best possible way in a short period of time. We will boldly present the young Zvezda team in Europe with the aspiration to go one step further than the quarter finals, which was the best performance set in 2020 - Jelić concluded.

As a reminder, like the first team of Red Star, the youth selection of our club will play in group G against Manchester City, RB Leipzig and Young Boys.
