The players of Crvena zvezda played the first two rounds of the Champions League, and according to the statistics of the best European football competition, the representative of Slovenia and the midfielder of our team - Timi Max Elšnik - stood out.
Immediately after arriving at our club, Elšnik showed that he will be an important cog in Vladan Milojević's team. This was confirmed by two games in the Champions League, which the red and whites played against Benfica at home, as well as against Inter in Italy. In the previous part of the competition, Zvezda's Slovenian stood out for two parameters, and was among the five best players of the highest quality European competition when it comes to the number of center shots sent, as well as the number of corner kicks taken.
In the list showing which players sent the most crosses into the opposition penalty area, Elsnik is in a high fourth place, having managed to do so in 13 situations. He left behind numerous European stars, such as: Dani Carvajal, Vinicius Junior, Ilkay Gundogan, Alexander Arnold and others... According to this statistical parameter, only Kuyper from Club Brugge and Doku from Manchester City are ahead of the midfielder of our team, who share the first position with 16 crosses, while Joshua Kimmich is behind them with 15.
Zvezda's Slovenian leads in another parameter, which speaks volumes about how offensively the team, led by Vladan Milojević from the bench, plays. Namely, Elšnik took as many as nine corner kicks, which places him in a high third place, while only Engels from Celtic (13) and Kimmich from Bayern (10) took more corners in two matches.
