Elšnik signed for Red Star

- Very happy. I am really satisfied that everything was finished in Belgrade after a few days. I have a long summer behind me, after the European Championship and the transfer saga, everything is finally over and I can join the team - emphasized Elšnik.

The Slovenian representative revealed that in the previous period he followed the successes of Crvena zvezda.

- I heard a lot of things about Red Star and Delia. I am very happy to be here. I know that Zvezda won the championship in previous years, as well as played in the Champions League. Zvezda is one of the best teams, if not the best in the region. I am very happy to be here. The fans are the best, the loudest and create the best atmosphere. I'm looking forward to the day I step onto the field and feel it all.

Elšnik had the opportunity to meet his new teammates.

- Yesterday I met new teammates, some I know from before. Several players played in the Slovenian league, so we were opponents on the field. I also know Vujadin Savić - the assistant coach, we were teammates before. I had quite complete information, and I also saw familiar faces, I believe I won't have a problem adjusting.

He followed the new red and white midfielder and the last match at Maracana.

- I watched the previous game on Saturday. Obviously it wasn't the best result, but I'm here to help the team make it right and be successful together. I'm a midfielder, I see myself in the middle of the pitch, trying to control the game in our favor, as well as find the forwards, so they can score goals.

In the end, the new football player of our team had a message for the fans.

- I hope that they will welcome me with open arms, I believe in that. In every game I will give my best for them, all one hundred percent of my abilities. I am a fighter and I believe they will love me. They can expect that from me and I believe that we will be successful together - concluded Elšnik.  

The sports director of our club - Mitar Mrkela - spoke with pleasure about the new transfer.

- Today we signed a contract and introduced Elšnik, a Slovenian midfielder who comes from Olimpija Ljubljana. He played all the games at the European Championship, where he made a fantastic impression and I'm glad we have him at Red Star. I love it when Crvena zvezda has a Slovenian footballer in its ranks. Slovenians are professionals, excellent team players and easily adapt to our environment. Throughout history, Ivan Toplak played in Red Star, then my good friend, the unfortunately deceased Marko Elsner, Nejc Pečnik. Everyone made a great impression at Red Star. I am sure that Elšnik will be one of those footballers who will leave a positive mark - Mrkela said.

At the European Championship in Germany, Elšnik played all the matches for the Slovenian national team, and collected a total of 19 appearances for the national team and is considered one of the players with a lot of experience playing important matches, which was especially emphasized by the sports director of the red and white team.

- Red Star needs players with experience. Elšnik certainly has it, because he played a lot of games for the national team. At the previous European Championship, he gained additional experience and will be very useful to Crvena Zvezda - underlined the sports director of Crvena Zvezda.

Timi Max Elšnik was born on April 29, 1998 in Ptuj, Slovenia. Already at the age of 17, he went from the junior categories of Aluminij to the English Derby, where he spent several years, although he played mostly on loan. He returned to Olimpija at the age of 22, and soon established himself as one of the best footballers in the Slovenian championship. At the same time, he became a representative of his country, and at the 2024 European Championship in Germany, he was a key figure in the Slovenian team.
