The new coach of Crvena Zvezda is Barak Bahar, with whom our club signed a three-year contract, and the expert from Israel was presented today in the Media Center of the "Rajko Mitić" stadium.
- I'm excited to be here, it's nice to see new faces. When a big club like Zvezda calls you, with a rich history and many trophies won, then everything is clear. I know where I came from, I like that legends and former players are respected here, and besides, Zvezda has great fans. I saw part of it yesterday, and I know I can do better than that. I am happy to be sitting next to people from the club, specifically Mr. Terzic came to Israel twice with the management to pick me up and really showed that he wants to bring me and that he believes in me and the coaching staff. He knew everything about me, where I was born, even that I like to play tennis, and we agreed that he would organize a match with Djokovic for me. Joking aside, I have the desire and patience for everything to come and I think we can do great things. Zvezda dominates in Serbia, but we have to continue in that direction, also the victories in the eternal derby are important, but for me the key is to make a good team for the group stage of the Champions League. I think we can do it, it will be the second time for me to manage the club at that level, so I am familiar with everything that awaits me. Mine and Zvezda's DNA is the same, we can do a lot, we can make good results at this level. I am happy to be here and I am ready to work - said Bahar, who was presented in the company of Zvezdan Terzić, Svetozar Mijailović, Mitar Mrkela, Vladimir Petrović, Marko Marin and Marko Petrović.
Bahar is aware of the expectations that come with Red Star.
- I know where I came from and for the last few weeks I have been getting to know the team together with the management, and I know what we need to fix in order to raise the ladder, because we all have high expectations. I know the players, the team, the mentality and we will work very hard to be even better. If I didn't believe that I would succeed in Zvezda, I wouldn't even come. I left my homeland after good results, but I wanted to make a step forward and I believe I can do that at Zvezda. We have to achieve new successes, and to get there, work is needed. The result is important, but the right way of working leads to it. Personally, I believe in that and if we all connect properly, be wise and smart, there will be results. I am ready to work hard with my coaching staff. I can promise that we will always try to win, regardless of whether we are favorites or underdogs. In football, anything is possible, anyone can beat anyone. It is also important for me that the fans are satisfied, that we play attractively, but we also need to be smart, so that we also focus on defense. That's a formula for success.
Bahar exclusively talks about the future.
- I'm not going to talk now about how it was before, I'm looking towards the future. I know what we need to change, what kind of players we want to bring in, I think we can play well in the Super League and in Europe.
Bahar does not want to apostrophize which players in the team he wants to keep at all costs.
- I won't talk about names, but I know the players I need. Some will also be with the national teams, but we have to manage without that, we have enough players.
He promised the leaders of the club from Haifa that he would not bring players from Maccabi.
- I promised the people from Maccabi that we would not bring their players. If I want a former Maccabi football player, I will talk to Mr. Terzic about it, I will not publicly talk about names.
Bahar knows exactly where he came from.
- I am aware of the expectation that in the league we will play against defensive teams, and that it is necessary to find a solution for that. I'm aware of that, but it was similar in Israel, it's nothing new for me. As for the pitch, the grass is changing, and that will be good for us. I spoke with ace Planić, a former player of Zvezda, but not only with him, with many other people who know the events in Serbia. We talked about the club, mentality, pressure and expectations, so I am familiar with Zvezda.
He also spoke with Milojević, for whom he has only words of praise.
- I met him two days ago and he is an excellent man. He did a great thing with Zvezda, won the double crown and I congratulate him. I didn't have a chance to talk with Stanković now, I did when we played last summer.
He revealed that he immediately recognized the desire of both the club and his own to come to Zvezda.
- We talked twice. The first time was before an important match for Maccabi, and I needed 10 days to focus on the club, so we agreed to wait a little while, even though I already knew then that I would come. It was not easy for me to leave the country and the club, but I am aware that this was the right moment for it. The second time we talked, we made a deal.
Bahar brings the professional staff with him.
- The entire professional staff is not there, I must emphasize that. The assistant coach is now in Israel, and he is more of a coach, while I am the manager, I talk to him about everything. You all know about the goalkeeper coach, it was written about him working on interruptions. Also, a psychologist will occasionally come from Israel to help, but we will be in constant communication. Certainly, the professional staff is important to me, I could not work without them.
He appreciates Pešić's qualities, but he will talk about the players exclusively internally.
- I know him very well, he scored goals in Israel, he was also accurate against Maccabi in the qualifiers. He's a good player, but I wouldn't go into detail. I leave such stories internally - underlined Bahar, and they moved on to a photo shoot with a scarf.
