Red Star was brave against Manchester City and experienced a 3:1 defeat, and Barak Bahar expressed his impressions after the first match of the group stage of the Champions League.
- After the lead at half time, I told the team that they had to keep playing, because I knew that Manchester City would press in the second half. They scored quickly in the second half but we were brave and kept fighting. We tried to press, but we didn't succeed, because their ball moves incredibly. We fought, we can look in the mirror and I'm proud of the team. We will transfer this energy to the next game - Bahar began.
He also had a conversation with the coach of the home team, Pep Guardiola, after the match.
- We agreed to have a drink after the match in Belgrade. We also talked about how I like pressing, but it was simply impossible against Manchester City.
He also referred to the performances of Điga, Glazer and Rodić.
- Điga had very little training with us for me to put him against Čukarički in the team, even though I wanted to. He was brilliant in the last training session, I decided to gamble and give him a chance to make his debut against Manchester City at the Etihad. Glazer defended well and saved us on a few occasions, and he really had a lot to do. As far as Rodić is concerned, he has different tasks in defense and attack, so our formation is also changing. Sometimes it is withdrawn, sometimes it comes forward. I don't like to defend for 90 minutes, but we couldn't do it any other way.
Bahar wants to win the derby.
- The most important match is the next one, especially since it is an eternal derby, and I know how important the victory in that match is to the fans. Especially considering that we lost two games in the championship, which is a lot for Zvezda and I am aware of that. We have to win the derby, for us and for the fans. After that we have one more game in the Superliga and only then it's Young Boys. So, the focus is exclusively on the derby.
It took the football players of our team a little time to adapt to the field of such large dimensions.
- In Serbia, the pitches are smaller, and it took us time to adapt, because Etihad is much wider. Nevertheless, the players did their best and most of them "survived" 90 minutes, although we had to replace some due to fatigue. It will be better against Young Boys - underscored Bahar.
