Impressions after Red Star's defeat by RB Leipzig with the score of 1:2 in the fourth round of the group stage of the Champions League were expressed by the head of our team's coaching staff, Barak Bahar.
- The line-up I chose for today is my responsibility. At half time I realized we needed changes and I made them. We started well in the second half and could have scored right away, and in the end we could have drawn. These are all my decisions. Kanga deserved to play as well, he was good in the last league game and deserved it. After the game, everyone is smart, but before the match we wanted to play differently. Kraso started in the middle because we counted on that advantage where he can keep and put the ball away, but they played good pressing and we had nothing to guard. In the second half, it was better - Bahar began.
Two halves and two faces of our club.
- In the first half we deserved to concede more goals, but in the second half we played much better and had good momentum. At 0:1 we were able to equalize, then we reduced it to 1:2 and in the end we almost drew. If we scored in the last minute, it would be a different story now.
Zvezda was a little short of winning points.
- We expect more from ourselves, especially in terms of results, but I think we fight well in every game. It was like that against City and Leipzig away from home, and even today. We will be close to making a result. In the end, we were disappointed, but we have to look forward. The Super League is also important to us, that the fans come, that we win the next game and calmly go to the national team break. After that is Young Boys, and that is now the most important game in the Champions League for us.
Bahar reacted and already made two changes at halftime.
- We were preparing something that didn't work in the first half. We realized that we have to change and it's my job to react when things don't work. I'm happy that we started well in the second half, and that everyone from the bench contributed. We almost missed a point.
Bahar believes that Zvezda will spend the winter in Europe.
- We had ups and downs during the Champions League games, but we wanted to be brave. In the first half we did not succeed, in the second we played "all or nothing". We lacked a bit and we have to stay positive. The result is not good, but we have two more games in the Champions League and a long season ahead of us.
He will talk to the players only after the analysis.
- I don't talk to the players right after the game, because I want to stay calm and soberly analyze the game with the coaching staff. Tomorrow we will talk about what needs to be done differently, but it is important for me that we fought until the last second.
He did not speak with anyone from the club's management after the match.
- No one from the club administration talked to me after the game, we don't have that habit. It was only against TSC, but we will talk these days - Bahar said.
