Dragan Stojković Piksi was born on March 3rd 1965 in Niš.
He played for the team from his hometown, Radnički and then in 1986 he came to play on the Red Star team, where he left an indelible trace. Soon after coming to Marakana he became the team captain and one of the best players in the history of the club. On May 3rd 1990 he got to enroll the “order of the immortal” or in other words, he became the fifth Red Star’s Star. That same year he left Belgrade for Marseille, without even imagining he would meet his ex team-mates the following spring in the European Cup finals in Bari. During that game he only played a few minutes, and Red Star fans point out with pride that their idol didn’t want to perform penalty kicks so as not to influence the final score. The football path takes him on to Verona, and after just one season, to everyone’s surprise, he decides to go to Japan, more precisely Nagoya, where he becomes a deity.
He played for the Serbian National Team 84 times. He played in two World Cups, 1990 in Italy and 1998 in France, as well as in 2000 in Belgium and The Netherlands. His goal in the eighth-finals of the World Cup against Spain was declared one of fifty most beautiful goals that have ever been scored in world-wide competitions.
After his career ended, he remained in the world of football, at first as the president of Football Association of Yugoslavia, and since July 2005 to October 2007 he was also the president of the Red Star Football Club, and during that period the club achieved some remarkable results. He left Red Star to go East again, Japan, where he became head coach of Nagoya and during the first, debut season the club is ranked third and Piksi is declared the best coach in the League. The peak would, however, come later, in the season 2010/2011, when his club wins the first Champion title in the history.
