Our Ghanaian star Richmond Boakye is back in the goals and back in the headlines after a fine performance against Vojvodina last weekend. This makes Richmond top of the goalscoring charts in our post-Europan Cup win era.
Boakye’s brace in the 4-0 win over the Novi Sad club means that he’s now reached a tally of 47 goals in 60 Crvena zvezda appearances and is averaging an impressive 0.78 striker per match. This puts our Black Star just ahead of Darko Kovačević, who’d scored 45 times in 62 games, averaging 0.72 goals per game.
Just behind the Ghanaian are two prolific strikers who excited the fans around the turn of the century. Mihajlo Pjanović (92 goals in 148 matches) and Nikola Žigić (70 strikes in 110 games) have a goal-rate of 0.62 and 0.62 respectively.
In the Top 10 we’ve got some big names with Nebojša Krupniković at 0.60 goals per match and our current first team forward El Fardou Ben Nabouhane at 0.59 goals per game. The Comorian has found the net 25 times in his 42 appearances for the club so far.
Zoran Jovičić and Anto Drobnjak have the scoring rate of 0.57 goals per game, while our former Portuguese star Hugo Vieira is just behind them with the average of 0.52.
Richmond Boakye is in a great position to further improve his terrific stats in the upcoming matches.
