It was a fierce battle at Gradski stadion in Zemun with home team firing on all cylinders in a bid to exploit the fact that Zvezda were still reeling from their midweek defeat in Paris.
But Vladan Milojević side showed great resilience and character and managed to score in injury time of either half to claim the points before we go into the international break.
It was Zemun who struck first, however, as Nikola Stojkovič got himself on the end of a right-wing cross and beat Borjan from point blank range.
Zvezda had a great chance to level from the penalty spot some ten minutes later, but Lorenzo Ebecilio could only hit the post and it remained 1-0.
Dejan Joveljić showed his natural goalscoring instinct as he scored a real poacher’s goal in the first half injury time to make it 1-1.
As it was expected, it was almost all Zvezda after the restart, but Zemun’s goalkeeper Milošević did great on a few occasions to deny Pavkov, Marin and Jovičić.
But Milošević couldn’t do a thing to prevent the inspired Marko Marin from scoring in stoppage time. The little winger picked up a Richmond Boakye pass and fired home to win it for the red and whites, who remain firmly in control at the top of Superliga.
