After a six-month spell playing for Jiangsu Suning in China, Richmond Boakye is back at Rajko Mitić Stadium. He was unveiled today on his return to Crvena zvezda.
“I thank God. If there were no God, there wouldn’t be Boakye. I’m happy to be back. I’ve been watching the games, of course and I was delighted to see the boys fight like true warriors. When we made it 2-2 in Salzburg, I nearly broke my TV remote with joy!”
Transfer saga lasted over a month as the club negotiated Boakye’s return.
“I would have joined even if we didn’t qualify for Europe. I said yes a while ago. Of course, playing in such an important competition such is Champions League is great for the club and every player. The atmosphere is going to be amazing.”
The Ghanaian striker will need no time to get to speed and adapt to life at Crvena zvezda.
“I will fit in quickly. I know what the boss wants, I know how everything works here. I just want to do my job well and put the ball in the net regularly. I was born ready.”
