Head Coach Vladan Milojević spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow's Champions League Play-off First Leg clash with Salzburg. He said that he wants his team to force visitors to adapt to Zvezda's style of play rather than adjusting his gameplan to the Austrians.
“It’s a huge game for us. We play against a strong team in Salzburg, a team that has a clear system and loads of quality. But the key is to approach the game just like all the others – to play the way we always play and let opponents worry about adjusting to the way we play. We will do our best for our fans even though they won’t be in the stands tomorrow.”
Milojević is disappointed because the game will be played behind closed doors of Rajko Mitić Stadium.
“If a club has to be punished, that’s fine. But it’s not fair to punish the fans. Football should be played in front of people who love the game rather than in front of empty stands. But we will do the best we can and we will be professional.”
Our coaching staff prepared well for this important match.
“Salzburg is a quality side. They love to attack and they are strong in all positions. It’s essential that we enter the game with the right mindset and make sure we don’t make costly mistakes. The champions of Austria have stability and continuity for years now, so every player they bring in slots in seamlessly into the well-worked system and it shows on the pitch. We have to be ready to compete because Salzburg are the favorites here. They reached semi-final of the Europa League last term and we have to respect that.”
The match at Rajko Mitić Stadium will kick off on Tuesday at 21.00 (CET).
