Crvena zvezda maintained a winning streak at Voždovac’s “Roof” in a classic game of two halves. A brilliant first and a somewhat underwhelming second half performance was still enough to claim three points in this Superliga match.

Vladan Milojević rotated the team with another European match coming as soon as Tuesday. Debuts were handed to Rashid Sumaila as well as to the latest signing Veljko Simić.
And it was the latter who made it a perfect start for the visitors as he volleyed home inside two minutes for a dream debut.
Zvezda looked in control and were 2-0 up midway through the first half as Nikola Stojiljković seized upon a terrible backpass, rounded Knežević and put the ball into the empty net. That’s Nikola’s first goal for the club.
Zvezda dictated the tempo and could have gone three up just before the break, but Simić’s header was just off target, grazing the crossbar before going over.
Voždovac came out in the second half trying to get back into the game. And they did just that around ten minutes in as Duronjić made the most out of Sumaila’s rare poor move and put it past Popović. It was anyone’s game at that point.
Second half was more even and unfortunately pretty choppy, with number of fouls committed increasing on either side, with hot and humid conditions apparently taking their toll on the players.
Voždovac had a couple of good chances to level the score in the final 15 minutes, but Crvena zvezda held on to claim another three points and maintain 100% record in Superliga.
Next up for the red and whites is a home match with Spartak Trnava in the Champions League Third Qualifying Round on Tuesday evening.
