Crvena zvezda's first summer signing Dušan Jovančić was unveiled at Rajko Mitić Stadium on Wednesday, 6 June 2018. Midfielder posed with a Zvezda shirt and spoke to media for the first time since joining.
Former Vojvodina skipper was presented to reporters by the club's Director of Football Mitar Mrkela.
"I'm very pleased with this signing. We've been after Dušan for a while now and we're delighted to have secured his signature. He was born in 1990, he played for Borac and Vojvodina after having completed Obilić's academy. He's a player of great ability, very disciplined and naturally fit. He should be a great asset to us."
Our new central midfielder will wear the number 29 shirt.
"I’m so happy to be here. Crvena zvezda is the club I supported since I was a boy here in Belgrade. It was always my ambition and a dream to come here. It took me a while, it was a long way round to finally get here, but I’m happy with the journey. I only want to help the team and win every match", Jovančić said to the press.
With Mitchell Donald departing the club, there is a slot in central midfield that needs to be filled. Jovančić believes he can perform well in that position.
"Zvezda have had a terrific season last term and expectations have naturally grown. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s up to us to show that we’re up for the task of bringing more trophies to the club. Donald has been performing so well and is rightfully considered one of the best Red Star players in recent years. Replacing such player is never going to be easy, but I will certainly do my best! "
