Two weeks after securing the title, our team have been officially awarded the trophies before the Voždovac game. Nenad Milijaš listed the trophy after all players and members of staff have been greeted by jubilant fans.
It was an emotional occasion with many of the players becoming champions for the first time in their careers. It was also a huge day for our veteran defender Dušan Anđelković, who has now finished his professional career.
One would be forgiver for forgetting that there was a game scheduled after the champions ceremony, but it was clear that our players were ready for it. Their professionalism and dedication is a credit to this team that was the best in Serbia by some distance.
El Fardou Ben Nabouhane opened the scoring with a fine left-footed finish to a rapturous roar from the red-and-whites.
Our team played some excellent attacking football, full of tricks and running. Vladan Milojević made sure his players know the holidays haven't started just yet. This sort of attitude earned even more respect and support from the stands on an evening Zvezda fans will remember for a long time.
Nemanja Radonjić was alert on the far post to poke home midway through the first half after a fine team move.
Dejan Joveljić got on the scoresheet minutes after restart as he sneaked between Voždovac defenders and goalkeeper Čupić to finish from a narrow angle and score a real poacher's effort.
Zvezda's on-loan midfielder Andrija Luković pulled one back for the visitors following a defensive mix-up. Michell Donald scored after coming on, making the most of Radonjić's trickery down left flank. Midfielder Uroš Račić scored with a low shot from some way out to make it 5-1 just before the final whistle.
At the end of the season, it's very clear that the red-and-whites deserved the title: we've got more wins than any other team in the league, the most goals scored, the fewest goals conceded, and we've got the best goalscorer in Aleksandar Pešić.
The curtain comes down on a fine season, a season in which we won our 29th league title - and we cannot wait for the next one!
