Aleksandar Pešić has been in fine form since joining Crvena zvezda last summer. He’s currently Superliga’s top scorer, but he’s also providing valuable assists for his team-mates on regular basis. As most strikers will tell you, it’s all about confidence.
“I’m happy with my performance at Radnički because I got a goal and an assist. But I have the other lads to thank, because it’s good team performances that have given me enough confidence in my own ability. When the final whistle goes, though, it’s all about the final score. If we win, then it’s fine. But if we lose, my goals and assists don’t mean a thing. Winning is all that matters. I don’t care about individual records – that is not any of us is at this club.”
Pešić did well in his home town. In Crvena zvezda’s previous match in Niš, he grabbed a hat-trick. Last weekend, he was again one of top performers for Vladan Milojević’s team.
“I’m glad I played well, but it has nothing to do with the place we’re playing. But, yes, I will admit that it felt nice having a few extra friends and family there to cheer me on.”
It’s two wins out of two since the start of Superliga’s play-off stage. The team is after the title and the players want to get their hands on the trophy as soon as possible.
“We’ve spoken about it, of course. We are in a great position, but we haven’t won anything just yet. We are pushing ourselves and the Head Coach demands that we give our 100 percent in every match. If we do that, we will be champions. It’s all about staying focused and trying to do well in every match.”
