Zvezda continued their poor run of form after failing to break down a passionate Mačva side on Wednesday. Chances were few on a terrible pitch and once again the Belgrade side lacked creativity and sharpness in the final third.
Pešić has had a decent chance after turning away from defenders, but his shot from a narrow angle was well saved by Puletić.
On the other end, Damien Le Tallec was forced into a goal line clearance as Obrovac’s chipped effort was going in.
Second half brought some more injury woe for Vladan Milojević as dependable Filip Stojković picked up a thigh injury and was forced off. Football left both sets of fans underwhelmed as the match was approaching a dreaded penalty shoot-out.
Babić, Pešić, Krstičić and Milijaš converted their spot kicks as both team scored in their four attempts. Next up for Zvezda was Nemanja Radonjić who fired his penalty high over the crossbar. Mačva’s Pejović had an opportunity to send his team through and he duly obliged by firing past Borjan.
It was a tough day for the numerous Zvezda fans, who will now be hoping for a better performance when these two teams meet again in Superliga on Sunday.
