It was a single goal that settled the Europa League two-game tie and it's tough on our players who fought bravely. Vujadin Savić has been performing well all season and is „gutted“ to bow out of the competition.
„We've had our chances so there are regrets. It's been a fairytale season for us in Europe so far and we're sad to go out. It's hard on the players. It's a sad dressing room at the minute. We're all suffering. The emotions are running high and we're all thinking about the defeat. But tomorrow we won't think about it. We cannot afford to. We must focus on Serbian Superliga because there is a job to do.“
The conditions were difficult in Moscow with the temperature falling to around -15 degrees Celsius.
“We weren’t quite comfortable playing in this cold, but it’s not the reason we lost. It’s not an excuse. We weren’t good enough tonight. This is why the lads are very sad and hurt right now. I really hope the fans will support us in the future and that we will get over this together. I believe that they appreciate that we do our best in every game and that no defeat happened for the lack of effort.”
Savić says that he hasn’t seen the alleged handball leading up the goal.
“If there’s been a handball, the goal shouldn’t have stood. But it’s over now and there is no point crying about it. These things happen. We should have scored at least once in the two games against CSKA. Our inability to make the chances count cost us dearly.”
