Head Coach Vladan Milojević opted for a rarely-used 3-4-3 formation with Rodić and Gobeljić in wingback roles.
The game started very well for the visitors as Ilić squared the ball for Nemanja Milić to finish from close range and put his team in control.
Just ten minutes later the game looked beyond Borac as their defender Kostić received a straight red for some sort of insult toward the referee.
The conditions were appalling, but you couldn’t tell by the way Crvena zvezda were playing. Some very good passing and flowing moves delighted the fans with Aleksandar Pešić in storming form upfront. It was Pešić who made it 2-0 to Red Star following a neat one-two with Milić on 29 minutes.
Račić and Srnić came close to scoring before the break, but it remained Borac 0 Crvena zvezda 2.
The tempo was slower after the restart with the pitch becoming nearly unplayable.
Highlight of the second half was a long-range goal by captain Nenad Milijaš that made it 3-0 on 73 minutes.
There was still time for another goal and it was created by in-form Pešić. The striker went around a defender and was brought down in the box. It was a clear penalty. Pešić himself took the spot kick and made it 4-0 with a cool Panenka.
It was a fine win for Milojević’s men who remain on course for the Serbian Cup.
