Head Coach Vladan Milojević decided to rotate his team and give a chance to players who haven’t been playing lately. Frimpong played alongside Savić in the centre of defence, Gobeljić was at right back, while Anđelković returned at left back. Brazilian Ricardinho started but was forced off early on through injury. Youngsters Luka Adžić and Ivan Ilić impressed in midfield.
It was Luka Adžić who opened the scoring with a fine free kick on 25 minutes. It gave the young winger a huge boost in confidence and he made it count with an eye-catching performance.
Aleksandar Pešić doubled the lead with a firm header following a corner. It was his clever movement that allowed him to get to the ball ahead of his markers.
The visitors were looking to half the deficit late in the half, but they ended up conceding the third. Dinamo’s corner was cleared and home players broke quickly through Slavoljub Srnić. The tireless winger played a clever pass to the onrushing Pešić who was in a good position to shoot at goal. Instead, the big striker squared it unselfishly to Adžić, who was in an even better position and the youngster rolled the ball into the empty net with former Zvezda goalkeeper Miloš Vesić stranded.
Our team continued to dominate after the break and Luka Adžić completed his hat-trick on the hour mark as Pešić provided second assist on the night after yet another rapid Zvezda counter-attack.
Slavoljub Srnić made it five with 15 minutes remaining, but it wasn’t all good for Crvena zvezda as Abraham Frimpong suffered a suspected concussion as he landed awkwardly on the back of his head. The Ghanaian defender briefly lost consciousness. Thankfully, several players and members of medical staff from both clubs were quick to help him. Frimpong left the pitch on his feet and was taken to hospital for necessary tests.
The match finished with the score at 5-0 with Head Coach Vladan Milojević praising his players for a professional performance.
There won’t be much time to rest as we return to Superliga action on Saturday with another home match versus Mačva.
