Crvena zvezda Head Coach spoke to the press ahead of tomorrow`s Europa League match at 1. FC Köln.
„Returning to the European competition has already boosted our experience. And it's what young sides need. Playing in this group with teams from England, Germany and Belarus is a stern test for us.“
„Arsenal are probably the favorites to win the group and there will be teams going for that second spot.“
„I can`t predict the score. I just want my players to give their best and see what happens. We`re facing a strong side from a strong league and we will have to be at our best if we`re to get anything out of this match.“
Asked about Serbian “hooligans” by a German journalist, Milojević replied:
“I don`t think that question is OK. We`ve got our passionate fans who follow us everywhere and who support the team. They are a part of the club`s tradition and history and I don`t think it`s appropriate to refer to them as hooligans.”
There is a history between the clubs, as Crvena zvezda were eliminated in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup by tomorrow`s opponents despite holding a 2-0 lead after the first leg played in Belgrade.
“History should be left alone. I heard many stories about those matches against 1. FC Köln in the late eighties. That time Crvena zvezda eliminated, but we were crowned champions of Europe the next season. We`re here to create some more history.”
Milojević is still undecided about his centre back pairing for tomorrow`s match.
“We`ve got another training session and I will decide then. We`ve got some good players and it’s nice having such a decision to make.”
